Pamela's work Over the years

Pamela Ugbonta is a security strategist and adviser with over 15 years of experience across intelligence, risk assessment, physical security, investigations, security planning and operational coordination. Her career spans the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria’s maritime and petroleum sectors, and major aviation environments, giving her broad experience in complex and high-consequence operational settings.Pamela’s work is centred on helping people, organisations and institutions anticipate risk, strengthen their security systems and protect what matters most. She helps clients understand their security exposure, identify vulnerabilities and blind spots, assess threats, develop practical security strategies and implement measures that improve preparedness and protection. Her approach is rooted in moving security from reactive response to proactive planning, enabling decision-makers to understand their risks and make informed security decisions before problems become costly.Previously, Pamela served as Security Adviser at First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company (FEPDC), where she was involved in security strategy and policy, risk assessments and audits, vulnerability identification and mitigation, comprehensive security planning, incident and threat analysis, security technology evaluation, cross-functional security integration and reporting to senior management and stakeholders. Her experience at NIMASA and NAPIMS included intelligence and threat analysis, determining organisational risk thresholds, recommending countermeasures, facilitating physical-security audits, conducting investigations, organising security drills and responding to emergencies.

At Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Pamela worked across travel-security threat monitoring, stakeholder liaison, watch-list actions, investigations and VIP security coordination. Earlier assignments with the DSS involved threat and trend analysis, intelligence gathering, investigations, vetting, protection of dignitaries, access control, security checks, patrol operations and high-risk joint operations. These experiences have given her a practical understanding of security from both intelligence and operational perspectives.Pamela holds an MSc in Criminology and a BSc in Accountancy, alongside professional credentials including Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Certified Protection Officer (CPO) and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO). She has also completed the Senior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, as well as specialist training in political advisory, civil-military cooperation and peacekeeping.Today, Pamela brings this depth of experience to organisations, institutions and individuals seeking to better understand and manage security risk.
